Frequently Asked Questions
Our FAQ section provides answers to common concerns, from maintenance schedules to emergency services, helping you understand how to keep your system running smoothly.
How often should I get my septic tank pumped
There are a few variables but if you want to be proactive and maximize the life of your septic system we recommend every 12-18 months per 4 people in the house.
Regular pumping prevents backups and extends the life of your system.
2 Residents
2-3 years
4 Residents
12-18 months
6 + Residents
6 - 12 months
We've heard many stories of people going much longer but missing routine pumping can cause septic solids to get into your drain field. Even a new septic field costing tens of thousands of dollars doesnt stand a chance against an over accumulation of solids blocking the pipes.
What are the signs my septic system is failing.
Common signs include:
- slow drains
- gurgling sounds in the plumbing,
- foul odors around the septic tank or drain field
- wet spots in your yard.
If you notice any of these, contact us for an inspection.
Can I flush wet wipes, tampons etc?
No, flushing wet wipes, feminine hygiene products, or other non-biodegradable items can clog your septic system and cause costly damage.
Stick to flushing only toilet paper and human waste only.
What should I do if my septic tank is backing up?
If your septic tank is backing up, call us immediately for our 24/7 emergency septic services. We’ll quickly respond to your call and resolve the issue to prevent further damage.
How can I extend the life of my septic field
To extend the life of your septic field, consider our septic field rehab service, which uses water jetting techniques to clear out accumulated debris from the lines. Regular pumping (every year to 18 months for a household of 4 people) is also crucial to maintaining a healthy system and preventing field failure.
How do I locate my septic tank?
Sometimes they're conspicuously hiding under a green lid in your yard. Typically on a low side of your house.
If you’re unsure where your septic tank is located, our team can help. We offer septic tank locating services to find and mark your tank for easy access during maintenance and pumping.
What kinds of things affect the cost of septic tank pumping?
The cost of septic tank pumping can be affected by several factors, including :
- how full the tank is
- the distance from the tank to the truck sometimes that slows suction
- the vertical distance our pump needs to pull
- how easy or difficult the tank is to access. (is it in a confined space? is there 3 feet of digging to access?)
